Totally worth it. It may seem like a basic fantasy anime, but it has so much good content plot-wise and visually: the original novel already had an incredible story, with the humor, fantasy, side-romance, wicked heart-wrenchers, and ridiculously good plot twists; but the donghua brings it to life with its combination of hand-drawn scenes and 3D animation that makes it all so pretty and smooth, ESPECIALLY the action scenes. Since this story has a lot of combat, it makes sense to put extra effort into the character's battles and duels, but this was better than any other action-thriller-fantasy animation I've seen yet. So for my fellow action-lovers, give MDZS a go, because you won't regret it. (Even if you aren't into the xianxia genere, or have never even touched Chinese anime, you'll be blown away by how good it is. Happy watching!!)
