Don’t listen to the haters that played 20 minutes and then spent 20 hours on forums reading each other’s whining. It was a bit jarring at first as the story is ambitious and doesn’t pander. Even if you’ve not bowled over by the narrative (which is amazing), the gameplay is deliciously brutal. I don’t usually leave reviews but all the copy and pasted negative ones spurned me on.

I thought I’d give a simple pre-review after finishing first couple of chapters. So far it seems the perfect sequel. Many an area improved, with certain aspects remaining the same as its predecessor. Nicely paced beginning, with a few scary parts, but I can tell it’s ramping up. The most important aspect, which I was dubious about before playing - the other playable character (Saga). Not annoying, positively likeable. She’s not overly ‘girl boss, I can do it like the guys even though I’m in a male dominated work force blah blah” and also she’s just the right amount of hot. Not distracting to look at, but very nice. I suspect the haters play games where everything is spoon fed and there’s tonnes of exposition. Alan wake 1 was a tad complicated plot wise, very David Lynch and they’ve stayed true to that Twin Peakesque template. The graphics are beaut - Character models, bright falls, the forest, the lake etc. Anyway play it. Best game I’ve played in a couple
