Never played the games, and it didn't feel like I needed to so that's a plus. I enjoyed it, but then again i also very much enjoyed Castlevania as well so take that for what it's worth.

This game has its shortcomings and bugs. However, it also has a great story, and characters you find yourself caring about. I think it got a bad rap because of the messy launch and numerous glitches. But if this is patched up like most games are and they can get the technical problems solved, the sky is the limit for this game. I would give it a play especially if you get it at a discounted price, you won't be disappointed.
