Wonderful poignant performances by the actors across the board. Frances McDormand is so subtle in the richness of her portrayal. The cinematography is achingly beautiful and the landscape is one of the main characters in this film. Ludovico Einaudi’s music is so good that it is hard to believe it was not written specifically for the film. (There is a piece by Olafur Arnald’s, also precisely placed to enhance this quiet, and nuanced film.)
My greatest impression is the persistence of hope and love among people who face financial, emotional, and physical challenges.
It is NOT a “feel good” picture but it is a “good surviving; good thriving” story!
