Read the trilogy multiple times- I ADORE these characters and story. I actually liked the liberties the show writers took for the most part- but agree that the casting is a problem. At first I thought Mathew was a touch too old in the show but he grew on me. Diana doesn’t come across as intelligent or independent or firey as the book character- actress is just a bit too unremarkable really. Loved the changes in Agatha and Nathaniel’s characters, Aunts were perfect. Rebecca Bishop’s actress is really wrong, but Ysabeau was so off I almost stopped watching. That actress was wrong for that role in a hundred ways. But, balancing my disdain for the casting sins, I really enjoyed the political backstory of the Congregation that was fleshed out in the show more so than the book. I’m intrigued by what they’re doing with Satu’s story line. Overall really like the show and looking forward to season 2!!
