Love her writing style! I didn’t read it but listened to it and gosh the narrator (Adenrele Ojo) was amazing! Even before I finished the audio book I got myself a copy of Vanishing Half and will get a copy of The Mothers and re-read very soon! Love the characters and vivid depiction of community and delicately intertwined storyline. I loved them and pity them all the for their stupid choices but really, was it their stupid choices or stupid choices made by the circumstances? At the end I just cannot hoping that they all be fine in their way and their family. Kudos to writer for not just writing an interesting and lively story but made the readers to explore many faces/shapes/destinies of ‘The Mothers’ The ending was quite open-ending-ish but it concluded the story very elegantly in my opinion. It doesn’t leave me wanting more but make me feel like I’m slowly walking away from the little community saying goodbye.
Definitely recommend to read this book and looking forward to reading her (or their is the author non-binary?) other books
