I know everyone has their own interpretation of films like this, but this movie hit in unexpected places. I feel that the movie really leans into the male psyche, that we don't carry emotion well and when we are really left to our own quiet and start to unpack ourselves...it can be downright scary. That & our stubbornness to conquer and push boundaries, whilst simultaneously neglecting the things we should be focussing on in life. Loved it.

I love Star Wars, always have - for context, I am in my 30's. The first half of the movie was all over the place and correcting & retconning a lot of the backlash from TLJ. The rest was shoehorning in an almost visible tick-list of fanboy items that had little to no context. Personal feelings on the movie aside, I think it needs to be watched even out of catharsis. Visually, very well shot but in terms of lore & canon it was a mess; with lines being thrown out that almost seemed alien & sadly, generic. The magic is gone, the saga is done and the franchise is buried for me.

An artsy version of "The Happening", barely managing to convey desperation like "The Road", the nasty things can't open doors (like "Signs") or even go through a measly leafy cannopy...and that's before everyone else's comparisons to "Quiet place".. Such a weak & hammy ending it was almost insulting...even M Night Shayamalan would roll his eyes at such a weak twist. I'm sure in the book they are more useful, but the birds themselves were a sideline & barely even a plot device; despite it being the title of the frickin' movie. Sorry but 20mins of a movie watching a boat floating & then shots of basically an obscured camera lens doesn't really cut it for me as "good" cinematography. I see a lot of people searching for a deeper meaning in the movie for whatever reason. I felt the whole movie really was just an allegory for being a single mum - As a guy, with no kids it didn't really register with me. Cringeworthy kid naming, parental arguments and tasting strawberry n'all that
