This videogame really was what pulled me into gaming to begin with. I'm a teenager now, so I was young when this game came out when my dad had his ps3, and we used to play it together. From there on, me and my father played the rest of the ps3 games (origins and city) until we got our ps4, sold our ps3 and the games and played arkham knight.
Arkham asylum will always be my absolute favorite videogame. As I already said, it has sentimental value, but it's overall a fantastic game. As a little girl up until now, I've always loved comic books and manga, and Batman was always my favorite, and I had a hyperfixation on the villains. Joker, Harley, Two Face, Catwoman, on and on, they were well written and psychologically interesting. This game really did them justice.
Probable spoilers ahead!!!
In Arkham asylum, after going down basically without a fight, the Joker is sent to Arkham Asylum and escorted by Batman, who watches him break free and take control of the island and the asylum in total. As the game progresses, you learn that Joker is using Titan (explained more in detail in the game), which is an altered version of Venom, what Bane uses, to power up henchmen and eventually, himself and Batman, which causes Batman to cure himself only to fight a huge, superhumanly strong Joker in the final boss fight of the game.
The combat is satisfying, the graphics are honestly not bad, and the game and it's storyline are very well written. In my opinion, the Riddler is annoying and pointless, but if you like collecting the trophies, this is the game for you, as there are MANY. Interview tapes of patients' therapy sessions and interrogations are lying around many areas in the game, as well as underground ruins that tell of the history of Arkham. You will run into villains like Joker and Harley (obviously), Posion Ivy, Bane, Zsasz, Killer Croc, Scarecrow, and so on.
The voice actors in the Arkham games continue to be the best! Kevin Conroy is easily the best Batman voice, Mark Hamill is perfect as the Joker, and Arleen Sorkin, who was soon replaced by Tara Strong and has a very similar Harley voice to her, nailed Harley Quinn 100%. Well cast.
A year or so ago, I bought the Return To Arkham set (asylum and city for ps4) and was excited to have that piece of my childhood back, and fell back in love with both games, but Asylum continues to be the best.
