I was disappointed in all the “nerd” references in this movie. One of the first lines in the movie is a bully pointing and laughing saying “NERD! He wants to be smart, and that’s lame!” Later, they make fun of the girl character for wearing glasses because it makes her look like a Nerd. Um, really?! This is a children’s movie... what is the point in making this a main theme? Also, IT’S BASED ON A BOOK. Hello! How insulting to the book and the author. Anyway, these are just a few references, but the entire movie depicts negativity and bullying towards the idea of “nerds”, despite the main character being a nerd and defying the odds to create his invention.
