I’ve always been a fan of the songs, the musical, and the story. But then when I saw this I was just disappointed. I think what made this suffer a lot was Ben’s performance. First off, he’s way too old for the role of Evan, in the musical, he actually did a pretty good job. But In the movie he just seemed so bland and flat and it was quite boring to watch. This story is a very serious story and age casting matters a lot in this story, because it’s about a teenage boy with social anxiety who gaslights and lies to everyone and needs to learn that lying shouldn’t be used to get what you want. And they cut “Good For You” which is a very important song to Evan’s character where his mom and friends are calling him out on what he’s doing is wrong not ok. Any story can be good, as long as it’s told right with good writing, and this could’ve been good. Would’ve been better with better acting, casting, and just written better overall. The musical and book are definitely better than this movie.

Warning: Spoilers There is a reason this is my favorite movie. This movie terrified me as a kid, but as I got older, it turned into my favorite movie. There are many reasons this is my favorite movie. The suspension in this movie is done so well. Like you know the shark is in the water when you hear it’s music come on even though you can’t see it, you know it’s there. And to me that is terrifying because it’s suspense builds up so well and scares you. The acting is also amazing. I love the last half of the movie with Brody, Hooper, and Quint. Their acting is amazing and the way they interact with each other is just so fun to watch. Quint’s story about being on the Indianapolis sounds so real and terrifying to hear about. Quints death was also traumatic as a child to watch. His screaming and bleeding out is terrifying while Brody has to sit and watch his friend get get eaten while he can’t do anything about it. The very end of the movie is also very iconic and great to watch. All the suspension has built up to those moments. You don’t know if Brody is going to end up killing the shark or if he’ll get eaten, and you’re at the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. This movie is such a good movie, I would recommend it to anyone at any time because it’s a classic and will always be entertaining to watch. Steven Spielberg never disappoints
