I am delighted by the experience I had listening to Michael's new album. I am very familiar with his movie work, but this is a new experience altogether. While Hollywood may be the place for 'the man', this album is definitely the place of 'the boy inside'. I can only imagine what Michael was thinking when he composed this collection and the narratives that accompany it. A futuristic vision of a world filled with a global soundscape and assistive artificial intelligence. This reminds me of Donald Fagan's 'IGY'--What a beautiful world this will be, what a glorious time to be free...just machines that make big decisions, programmed by fellas with compassion and vision, we'll be free when that work gets done. We'll be eternally free, yes and eternally young...ooh. The orchestral textures and instrument selections here are uniquely constructed and tickle your pleasure centers. Plain and simple. This is not cerebral music, but the narrating serves that element well. A blended experience of verbiage and music leads to a 'trip-like' experience for the listener who is engaged. Let go of your ego and allow this work to transport you elsewhere--this would be the right time for that. Doctor's orders.
