It took the first Top Gear based in the USA a few years to establish the proper show format (anyone remember the Big Star Small Car segment from the first two seasons?). The third season focused on the challenges, and despite the obvious budget limitations compared to the BBC mothership, the show began to gel. Tanner was the best non-disguised Top Gear driver since Tiff Needell of Ancient Top Gear. Rutledge was the car know-it-all with the southern drawl and Adam was the loveable wise guy. Now fast-forward to American Top Gear. Dax does his best but he simply can't carry all the zany by himself. Rob and Jethro are ok. I am very glad I did not shell out loot for the app as this version of Top Gear is a CVT at best.
