Top Spin 4 was an incredible game. I bought both copies ps3 and Xbox 360 and the fluidity of shots is unrivaled. The animations for players were still copy/pasted and inaccuracy was everywhere.
Tennis world tour has some of the best tennis animations if you know how to position and anticipate the ball. Keurten’s long winding forehand and backhands. Federer’s finesse. Nadal’s forehand is spot on, looping with top spin. The new generation is extremely well represented with Zverev, Tsitsipas, Thiem, Khachanov, and assime.
The game certainly has bugs. Missed out calls and freezes online. Online play has a unique play style among the top players using a lot of drop shots. Honestly, top spin 4 was not much different at all, if not worse.
The voices of the players are incredible. Sounds almost identical to the grunts in tennis matches. Nadal especially but they all sound spot on.
Bottom line; if you are new to tennis you will absolutely despise this game. It’s not a realistic tennis game by any means, but if you are familiar with the sport you will understand what is going on with the timing, anticipation, and shot placement/selection. It makes it a hybrid tennis arcade/simulation that can be frustrating to play for beginners and experienced alike. After playing all tennis games since the early 2000’s, I can safely say I have had the most fun with this game despite its incredible flaws.
So, this is for tennis world tour 2. Twt1 was kind of a garbage fire but I still kinda liked it. All the above comments are for the second game, they don’t have a review spot on Google (?). This sequel is a lot better tho. The first game was like playing tennis roulette.
