Excellent work of art capturing the social realities of the period in which it was set. Set in rural india under british rule, what set it apart was it's ability to connect with the audience which faced the reality of caste and feudalism. I watched it as a teenager in 1986 and I still watch it from time to time, this movie transports me to the rajasthan of those times and its unique milieu. With excellent star cast and direction this is a stand out movie. Strongly recommended.
