I really liked this movie, I thought it was charming and funny mostly because Adam Brody is charming and funny. I don’t know why it has so many bad reviews because it’s really easy to watch. Also, I think it’s probably one of the last movies I saw Meg Ryan in.

Lame. Channing Tatum has roles that play to his strengths (shirtless and dancing) but this is definitely not one of them. For most of the film I was pulling for the ‘other team’ being the Seal People. The Romans came onto their land after murdering and raping their way through Europe, tried to take over and enslave the Brittians. Their stupid golden eagle statue was taken from them and most were appropriately killed including Channing’s father. So now Channing Tatum is all grown up and can’t take the shame of his father dying and losing the eagle so he forces his slave to help him retrieve it. How am I supposed to get behind that!! Worst hero’s quest everrr. I won’t reveal anymore in case you recently had a lobotomy and are looking for something to watch. If you like historical fiction/non fiction like me, might I suggest something like ‘Vikings’ or “The Last Kingdom”.

I like these types of movies, the premise was good & it wasn’t boring, but why Mark Wahlberg!?!? I feel like if Mark Wahlberg & Dylan O’Brien switched roles it would be infinitely better. It’s not that Mark Wahlberg is bad per say, he’s just very, very niche (hot guy, psychotic guy, fighty guy). It felt like a younger person should have played his role & someone with more depth & range. Everyone else was really good, but the casting mistake was more than good costars could overcome. My recommendation is to watch it you liked movies like Push, I am number 4 and only if it is free.
