Let's say this book was all over the place with an abstract understanding. I could detect many underlying philosophical themes but not quite decipher them. This book fits well in the magical realism genre. Nakata was an interesting character in his mannerisms. Kafka was a complex one, at one time he was just like every other 15 year old boy and the next moment he was everything but. The example of the oedipal curse was delivered well. I will have to read this book a few more times to grasp the main idea. This book has sparked an interest for other Murakami's books for me.
