Born a crime
By Trevor Noah
Autobiography
Abuse, racism and the strength that comes from faith and love.
The great book of a South African comedian about his childhood at the time of Apartheid (apart hate) where all different types of skins where divided into 3 racial groups. The native tribes were manipulated to fight one another. Trevor had to survive the crime of being colored.
Trevor grew up as a curious young man who his mother was black (Xhosa) and his father as white (Swiss). Trevor's mom is the main best character in the story with her fearless nature to manipulate the system and breaking restrictions (such a powerful woman).
At the time of apartheid her mom was brave enough to approach a white man for a baby under the dangerous circumstances of apartheid. Trevor's father is not very much detailed in the story, and they never saw each other very much often throughout the telling. At his early childhood, Trevor grew up in the black township at her granny's house where the society exaggerated him from his skin color. Trevor endured to pretend as if her mom was a stranger( outside the yard), for which it was against the law for both of them to cuddle in public, if she was noticed by authorities she would have been taken away from her family. Trevor had to pretend and protect her mom for the crime he was.
If you like a humorous story telling in difficult times, you will love this book. I also recommend this book for kids, to make them understand the world we live under at a very young age.
I like the story and the humorous way the writer portrays the picture.
