We are a homeschool family and we love these books! We have all them and read most of them so far. Some of them we’ve read twice! My boys are young (7 years old), but the stories are entertaining enough that they capture their attention. And there are lessons to be learned at any age level.
For example, in the book about spontaneous order (The Miraculous Pencil), we read about how many industries are involved in making a pencil. Then we discussed how many industries are involved in making their favorite toy - they understand that! As they get older and we read the book(s) again and again, the conversations we have will become more in-depth and complex.
Right now, the book, The Search for Atlas, is especially relevant. I even ended up reading Ayn Rand’s tome, Atlas Shrugged, since that’s the book this Tuttle Twins book is based on. (Yes, Ayn Rand was an atheist, but you can still discuss the dangers of socialism and communism as depicted in both Rand’s book and in Boyack’s, without bringing up Rand’s [or anyone’s] faith stance.)
We highly recommend these books, and we cannot wait to watch the new cartoon series!
Thank you, Mr. Boyack, for writing these books! Our family has benefited from them, and will continue to for years to come. I have no doubt that all of society would benefit from reading The Tuttle Twins books. Now that I think of it, I’ll probably buy the set and donate them to our local library.
