One of the best scripted-television series in media history, Coronation Street follows the lives and loves of denizens of a Weatherfield (Manchester) community. For 60 years, the show has placed skilled actors against brilliantly-written scripts that were both relatable and believable. Stand out performances can be found from William Roache (Ken Barlow), Barbara Knox (Rita Sullivan), Beverley Callard (Liz McDonald), Chris Gascoyne (Peter Barlow), Alison King (Carla Connor), Jack P. Shepherd (David Platt), Sally Denevor (Sally Webster), and David Neilsen (Roy Cropper). Storylines have ranged the full gamut from domestic abuse and business rivalries to (a fair number of) explosions and mental health issues. One of my favorite shows for personal viewing AND for academic instruction!

OMG! Could they all just die already! Slow burn unwinding of this tale where none of the characters are particularly likable and 35 minutes in, viewers are begging for the end.

Pleasantly surprised! Great scripts, believable deliveries, and nail-biting cliffhangers. Manny Montana, Retta, and Reno Wilson give amazing performances!
