Everything was good EXCEPT... the kids.
Clearly the writers don't have a solid understanding of what kids actually talk about, how they talk, and what they do on social media.
The "cool" kids aren't actually realistically cool - the jokes they make of [the main character who I forgot the name of already] are just dumb, and if other kids actually heard those jokes, then the "cool" kids would realistically be called "gay" the same way people call Among Us "gay". If somebody likes rocks, then sure, that's a bit weird, but that's literally not funny at all.
The "popular" girl's vlogs are also dumb - you don't just livestream a school backyard doing practically nothing interesting and get hundreds of likes by the minute, and same goes with the "poop me" video. Instead of ranking up these hundreds of likes, the viewers would realistically be asking what the hell just happened, and that one clip would not be used for DAYS ON END WITHOUT ANY ALTERNATIONS. On top of that, the joke would be over within a week and would probably also be seen as "gay" if anyone were to laugh at that from then on.
The main character is probably the most normal person in this movie; I'll give it that.
But when the kids we've met throughout the movie befriend the main character at the end, the cringe level is TOP. TIER. [Popular girl] says, "You saved the world, [First name, last name]! How cool is that?" Jesus, the dialogue sounds like it came from a 2004 NPC. Some random girl then asks if [popular girl] is from the "poop me" video, and then when the robot can't find the video, the girl's like "Sorry, nevermind." They literally saw this happen in the schoolyard in person - How are they not sure of who it was? And their own robot would have found the video immediately anyway, since it was reposted hundreds of times for whatever reason. Later, the main character and his "friends" hold these cooked chicken arms and he makes a chicken noise so that this teacher stops bothering them, and they all laugh when the teacher leaves. I'm pretty sure none of my friends talked or acted like this starting middle school, and I'M NOT DONE. [Popular girl] says, "You're gonna have to talk to that goat because I don't want anymore of my jewelry going through his intestines." This is not middle school dialogue; this is computer generated text. And I don't remember the goat ever actually eating any of her jewelry. Did this happen? And to top this level of cringe with a fresh, rotten tomato, everyone laughs at [popular girl's] goat comment. That was literally less funny than the idea of somebody liking rocks. How do I know these kids are unrealistic? Because the movie theater I watched it in was filled with kids who were somewhere around [lower school-start of middle school], and not one of them made a single noise when the kids in the movie laughed.
Because this major issue is pretty much irrelevant to the plot, I'm still giving it 4 stars because everything else was really good. I hope to see more from Locksmith Animation, but I really hope they either improve the dialogue of kids or just not include them at all.
