I was surprised at so many negative reviews. I can only assume that a lot of evangelical right people watched the movie and we’re disappointed. I thought it turned out exactly as it probably would in real life. It’s pretty obvious that during the last 30 years, the evangelical right has not been about anything but obtaining and preserving power and making as much money for the people at the top as possible. I really liked the young preacher at the beginning, but it just goes to show you the corrupting influence of greed and the thirst for power. I did not anticipate the ending at all but once it unfolded, it wasn’t surprising. Very interesting movie. Rare to see such a candid look at organized religious power.
