I'm being generous with two stars because I liked the very few romantic scenes, the heroism, the general story plot that kept me watching til the end, and the characters were tolerable. Unfortunately that's the end of my kindness towards this movie. I'm not very picky with animation because, as an artist myself, I know how very difficult it is and I commend anyone who puts the time, effort, and work into their projects, so as long as the work is clearly good or decently well done and the characters are loveable with a good story plot, I tend to enjoy the animated features I watch. Unfortunately, the story plot was good enough to hold my attention, but not wonderful by any means, the characters were tolerable, but fairly mediocre, so I was able to give my attention to the details of the animation. Note: I said that I'm willing to commend artists who put in time, effort, and work into their projects, but unfortunately, the animation lacked all three and was the worst I've ever seen! Did anyone else noticed that the prince's eyes are wide, emotionless, and blue as a boy, filled with emotion as a mouse and a man, green as a man, and purple as a mouse? Why do his eyes constantly change? That's weird! The words and mouths were not in sync, scenes were not cut right or too abruptly, the ending left to many open ended questions and didn't answer all the questions that were already being asked, and the ending was a bit weird and tacky. I would not recommend this movie, sorry.

Hmm…this story and characters sound familiar…hmm…oh yeah, that’s right! Avatar: The Last Airbender. I am always in the middle with Disney, some things I like or love and others I dislike or hate, but I have never been as upset and hated a Disney movie as much as I do Raya and the Last Dragon, that and their poor attempt at a live action Mulan, that I couldn’t even finish watching. I think the only people hyped about this movie could be Disney lovers who will simp for Disney, people who have never or have barely watched anime to know just how much is basically plagiarized, and people who enjoyed the story plot with out really knowing the depth it could’ve taken like ATLA. I thought nothing could get worse than Descendants. Disney proved me wrong. Yes, I do like some Disney movies, in fact, two Disney movies are my absolute favorite movies, but I’ll definitely drag some titles through the dirt when their movies are created through the actions of hurting others. Unacceptable!

If you’re Hispanic, this movie is super relatable. If you have gone through family trauma or abuse, the film is also very relatable. If you have major family issues, this is relatable. If you know your ending or you and your family’s ending will never be a happy one in real life, but you need closure you know you’ll never get from family or you’re craving a happy ending to misery, then this movie will hit the spot. If none of this applies to you, well then, the movie is still full of entertainment: from different perspectives, a tear jerker at the end, vibrant colors, excellent animation, and catchy songs and music that you’ll either dance to, sing to, and/or cry to. Enjoy the movie that gave me a roller coaster of emotions.
