It’s a mix of the ring meets final destination. You agree to the terms then are given an amount of time to live. You break the rules then it’s like cheating death in final destination but a demon kills you. Once you download the app and agree then you die after the timer is up just like if you watched the vhs in the ring. Their is no originality to this film. There are several films that has the same concept. I hated the jump scares and the stupidity of the characters making poor decisions.

The remake was absolutely stupid. The doll was more creepy as in ugly not scary at all. He acted like the needy unhinged friend who doesn’t want to share you. He goes overboard killing people who want to take his place as best friend. Or anyone who stops him and Andy from playing together. He takes everything way too serious. If Andy says the wrong thing, does the wrong thing or hates something then the doll kills. He even takes things other people say way too serious.He has no mind of his own like the original Chucky. At least the original he didn’t come off as creepy nor was he an ugly toy. He was subtle as being a serial killer. The doll in the remake lets himself be known as unhinged and creepy right away. With him you want a restraining order with in a few days. At least with the original Andy nor his mom knows he’s alive until things don’t add up. This remake leaves no suspense, and they knew the doll wasn’t right since the start since the mom knew it was damaged.

The movie to me felt like it didn’t flow. It was hard to follow at times. When Pascow came into play he was vague instead of making sense. His scene felt rushed like a trippy quick flash in and out. The story behind the Mi kmaq Burial grounds was replaced with something more unrelatable to the original. Even the back stories with flashbacks were missing. The entire movie lacked the story behind the burial grounds. The history with the dead that was brought back was missing. The scenes with the local boy and Judd’s dead dog is what really added to the original. Zelda’s death was a bit stupid. She couldn’t get out of bed and needed help doing day to day life. Her getting the food off the dumbwaiter seemed illogical. She was too CG. The original Zelda was creepier. I get that Missy Dandridge was missing from the movie. So was her famous suicide scene. Taking out the toxic relationship between Louise Creed and his step father out was a huge miss. You miss the father in law and Louise getting into it at Gage’s funeral. Or in this case Elle’s. His father in law sees Louise as an unfit match for his daughter. The relationship is strained between them. This plays a huge role in how Rachel is messed up emotionally. Even playing more on her relationship with Zelda lacked. Her (lack of) support from her family didn’t come through like in the original. A lot of the relationship between her family and Louise wasn't the remake which needed to be. It played a huge part in why Rachel had an inability to deal with death or have an emotional connection with her children. Not only can’t Rachel deal with her past but with death either. Her dealing with death in the remake was more traumatized. She didn’t know how to deal with seeing her dead daughter. Her reaction to churches death seemed more emotionally detached than wanting to face it. Rachel was never able to really discuss death or deal with it. In the original when Missy died her stomach couldn’t handle it. She was sedated by Louise so she could cope. In the remake she’s dealing with death differently, basically not talking but crying.
