I started my gaming career as a child with Metroid Fusion on the GBA; it literally shaped my game taste and I consider "metroidvanias" to be my favorite genre. I am writing this as the end credits for Dread roll by, and I can finally confirm that this is my favorite platformer of all time. If you enjoy Hollow Knight, previous Metroids, Celeste, or any other platformers, you will love Dread.
The difficulty is paced so that you will likely die several times with each boss, but learn the patterns and get further each time until you finally beat them. I loved the RPG progression, it was incredibly nostalgic to hear the original tune each time I obtained a suit upgrade. The levels are absolutely stunning on handheld and 1080p, I'm in love with the art direction. I'm so happy the developers did their best with this title, it deserved a reboot to this degree of perfectionism.
