It gets two stars because it functions; one star reviews are for products that literally don't work. In Visage, you can press buttons and things happen, and the graphics and sound successfully convey meaning without glitching.
With that praise out of the way, this has to be the most relentlessly boring game I've ever played. Suspense, dread, and apprehension are words you use to describe an oppressive atmosphere with stakes and personal investment. Visage has... None of those things. It has spooky noises, flickering lights, and a strange fascination with environmental inconsistency. If those things were happening in real life, it might be unnerving. In a game, however, they're just interruptions to the riveting gameplay loop of opening drawers (there is a drawer-opening mechanic!) to collect keys and candles.
If it wanted me to stay involved for more than a few hours, it really shouldn't have made taking the Easy Way Out the first apparently meaningful choice of the game.
