The whole idea of win shares is to develop yet another statistic that is irrelevant and means nothing. Of course we've had wins above replacement for some time. Win Shares does not necessarily mean an NBA title. When a Conference is stacked or alternately or at the same time the other Conference has one incredible team, titles will be denied a team. This doesn't reduce any player's value to their team. It can be argued that if the Spurs didn't win 5 Titles in their time, the Lakers would have won another four or five. It can be argued that if Michael Jordon didn't lead the Bulls to six titles in six tries other teams would have won more titles, perhaps including another one of two for the Lakers. Win shares are just another stat for people to argue over. Jerry West was Mr. Clutch, but he's nowhere near the top of Win Shares. This stat is moronic.
