Easily my game of the year. This is the most complete and flawless game I've ever played.
You play as Zagreus, the son of Hades. Your mission is to escape the underworld. You will die over and over again, but in this game dying means story progression. This is a game where I can safely say that I enjoy dying and am looking forward to it. I didn't even like roguelike games but Hades completely changed that.
Combat is smooth, impactful, and very satisfying. It's very responsive and is one of the best among isometric ARPGs.
There are 6 weapons and 4 aspects each, so Hades effectively has 24 "classes". There are also many god powers that you can choose during a run, so there are many build possibilities. The replayability is excellent and I feel bad only paying AUD 35 for this game.
The writing and storytelling is excellent. Everything is voice acted brilliantly.
The art style is similar to Supergiant's previous games (namely Bastion, Pyre, and Transistor). It is very charming and also practical. Everything has excellent visibility and also beautiful at the same time.
This game can be enjoyed by everyone; no matter if you play games for the story or if you are a hyper competitive speed runner. Honestly I can't find any fault in this game.
