I am so disappointed in your show. It was a staple in our home for over 40 years. Each morning my husband and I watched as we started our day. We watched together as the Twin Towers fell and so many other major events unfolded. But we have not watched it for almost that many months. Why? Political bias.
Never have I seen such unprofessional behavior over any sitting president as is demonstrated against President Trump. Last week Craig Melvin interrupted a county official guest from Georgia as he was stating why he, as a Democrat, was supporting president Trump. Craig couldn’t allow the man to complete his sentence without stating his opinions. Craig stated, “I traffic in facts.” He also rudely asked his guest if he was being paid by the President. The guest stood his ground and continued his thoughts. Craig was insistent to argue and even stated, “This is my show.” I enjoyed the way the guest handled the rudeness. Craig lost this one. He should be ashamed.
Tonight Savanah Guthrie humiliated herself as she showed no respect for the President or the guests in the town hall meeting. Interruptions, disagreements, rude laughter were all demonstrated as she continuously cut him off. What was her role exactly? Was she debating him? I generally enjoy town hall venues but she did not allow the guests to get the complete answers from the President as she cut him off and interrupted with her opinion. She is a journalist but her arrogance is more suited for her own talk show where she could monopolize the conversation. Shame on her too. The people are listening to hear what the guests have to say but your staff insists on interjecting their own opinions—no one cares.
I certainly hope Kristen Welcher can be a professional moderator next week at the debate. Perhaps she will stick to her role and be fair as she allows the participants to showcase what they want to do for America. Remember one of the liberties of the first amendment is freedom of the press. Watch out as this was one of the first rights lost in many societies in the past 100 years. You could be out of a job. And look at your ratings on this page. Just over two stars. Does that tell you anything? Try to bring back the professionalism that carried the Today Show through it’s long history before that rating goes even lower. Maybe a new anchor to sit next to Hoda?
