The premise is sound but it lacks any intelligence. Basically, why wouldn't he involve the police? It could have come to a better conclusion. And it would be more believable if Butler's character was ex military or some kind of ex law enforcement. It makes no sense why a real estate developer with no previous tactical experience would go commando chasing after his missing wife. Anyone else would have been happy to involve and cooperate with the police from the get go.
