One good thing about this series, it has me rereading the books. While I understand you could not parallel the books 100%, there should have been some integrity in the telling. Almost 0 character similarities and the plot loosely familiar but the is timeline completely gone. It has been 25 years since I read the first books so I could not understand what was smacking as so disconnected and discongruous. I started rereading and it helped to cleanse this disappointment. Now that I am nearing the end of the 2nd book and watching episode 6, I just don't understand any of the decisions here. Normally I would try and enjoy a series like this as an entity on it's own but a complete rewrite of a truly epic work is hard to stomach. An obvious bent toward modern political religious dogma brings the cringe to a whole new level.

Visually stunning at times. Costumes for cosmic beings seemed homemade. Character development is always challenging when introducing this many characters at once. They attempted to rely on literary analogy to create character connection with things like the obvious look of the youngest eternal. Then created a sigh moment when they actually explained it to the audience with the Peter Pan scene. It had it's moments but the overall story was weak and not worth a movie trip. I would rank this among the lowest super hero theater films. It was Netflix worthy.
