I've seen many reviews here that just mostly state the bad things about this show, this time, I'm gonna state the good AND bad things about this show, and how it could improve:
Pros
-voice acting
-theme song
-concept (it's been done before, but I don't mind)
-animation
-background
Cons
-characters (Some are stale and bland, like Annie's friends, Gerry, Beatrice, Clara, Heston, Henrietta, Gerry)
-plot (All the episodes are very cliche, like Distractions)
-humor (Most of it is very overused, I don't usually laugh at most jokes)
-morals (Morals are good once in a while, but isn't this a comedy show?)
How can this show improve if it gets Season 2:
Improve characters:
The only character who has a clear personality is obviously Pony, he's fun-loving, naive, optimistic etc.
All the others, well, they really aren't clear and are not relatable. Annie is quite bland to be honest, and she's literally the main character! In my opinion, here is how I prefer to change the characters:
Annie could be:
The short-tempered, modest, but helpful and friendly girl
Pony could be:
The fun-loving, optimistic one, but naive and possibly over attached to things
Beatrice could be:
The obnoxious, bossy one, but very energetic and lively
Clara's personality is a very tough one to figure out so I'll pass on that
Heston is utterly so bland so I'm passing on that one as well.
Henrietta only appeared for 1 episode so we can pass on that.
Gerry could be:
The introverted, laid-back, peaceful one, but is quite skeptical and can be very depressed sometimes, he also tends to stress quite a lot.
Brian could be:
The gamer, don't make him so one-dimensional, use his gamer type personality in a funny way, make him have satire towards games, make him focused, determined, he also can't listen to instructions and he's very energetic.
The other characters will need to improve or make, that's up to the writers.
Next, STOP CLICHE PLOTS
It's that simple, nobody likes a cliche plot. Just make original plots, the characters are the ones that make the stories, and it'll depend on their personalities.
Next, the humor
The humor in the show is stale, which is disappointing despite being a comedy show. It's actually not that hard, you just need to be witty in the writing.
An excellent tip: The dynamic of the characters create the humor. This is a thing, although not official, called Natural Humor.
Natural Humor is basically the characters personalities clashing with each other and creating humor, first, you need to understand the characters personalities, then, put them into a situation where their personalities will have to interact with each other.
The best thing about natural humor is that the jokes will come naturally, instead of a random joke that causes the characters to be forced to act that out. This'll make it less stressful to come up with jokes.
Plus, witty jokes are also the best jokes to do, especially for one-liners.
And finally... morals.
This one is easy, make them more subtle. Don't shove it in front of the viewers face, trust us, we will know the moral if we dig deep into the episode, or, we could just enjoy it with ease.
Also, you don't need morals in EVERY episode, sometimes, us humans just need a show that we can all laugh to and enjoy and relax with our friends and family.
So yeah, if the show can strive to do this in Season 2, I will be glad! But sadly, it might not be the case as this show isn't getting Spongebob's viewings, in Nickelodeon / Nicktoons' case, of course.
So in conclusion, I'm gonna give this show a 3/5. I hope it gets better overtime!
