There have been movies based on con artists and frauds scamming and getting away with it before but in the end these somehow makes the viewers sympathize or root for the protagonist due to a slight glint of redeeming trait in them and so we are fine with them getting away with their delinquencies. But in this totally discordant display of deception and exploitation of the helpless and lonely to the extent of psychological and physical torment there is no iota of humanity seen in this main character. In the end if the maker is trying to send the message that such sociopaths will end up successful and no one can actually stop them then in my opinion they have lost the essence of what movies stand for to the audience who in this depressing and harsh reality root for the sufferer/ victims, for justice served to those who deserve it.
I ended up irritated and frustrated at the end of this half baked attempt of a movie with a thousand instances of incongruity and complete failure of execution in terms of a good con artist themed movie.
