This review is for multiplayer only!!
I will not be talking about the guns or meta n this review as those are subject to change and are always a mess at any competitive multiplayer games launch.
Maps: Small pool of very okay maps, with each one having their own style of course but all still feeling almost exactly the same
System requirements: Even with an i7 core 16 GB of ram and a GTX 1080 AND overclocking, I max out at about 40 frames per second, which lets be honest only matters if you need that buttery smooth 60 fps, but according to their requirements i should be able to go higher, so its frustrating. The icing on the cake is that it looks WORSE that modern warfare, which only tells me that the game is poorly optimized, what a surprise
Chat: Sound settings don't save, meaning that i cant change my audio output for game sound, mic sound from other players, or mic input for myself. The ONLY solution I have found has been to disable my computers default speakers and microphone so that my headphones are the default, so every time I boot up the game i have to disable my defaults, and every time I leave I have to re-enable them if I want to do anything without headphones.
Servers: Oh boy, matches are found relatively quickly and connect easily, but the game is full of stutters, lag spikes, and lots of connection timeouts that almost always result in your death, whether it be a lag spike coming just as an enemy rounds a corner, a connection timeout leaving you standing still for a few seconds wherever you were, or even rubber banding meaning that no, actually that grenade didn't go out the window, it hit the wall and bounces right back at you
Conclusion: Fundamentally Black ops: Cold War is not a bad game, the shooting mechanics are responsive and sound very punchy, very immersive and easy to pick up. The game will be fixed (Mostly), but over a week into launch and 150GB later there are still many game breaking bugs (The worst of which in my opinion is the sound setting issue as I only bought this game to play with friends, and it took me a very long time to come up with such a convoluted solution) that make the multiplayer experience so frustrating that it becomes difficult to enjoy the gameplay. Finally I cannot say that I can recommend this game for the multiplayer in its current state. I would recommend waiting until these issues are fixed as they can and will spoil your experience. My review will of course be updated as fixes are implemented and as I try out other parts of the game
