Better pacing, tighter script, and a proper sequel, and it gets four stars. There's some good stuff here for a sci-fi fan, interesting ideas to explore, just enough humor to lighten things up now and again, and no blundered romance angles to bog things down. The ending leaves you wanting more than "we were saved by (maybe) humans from Mars in the future," and demands more answers than "a magic cave, I guess," so without a sequel, my rating is "meh." I liked enough of it to not hate it.
