*Spoiler alert*
I gave this show a three star rating because there are a few factors that I think made this frustrating to watch.
1. Format & rules made no sense, while it was nice to see no one have to get sent home the rules didn’t make much sense. I really liked the fact that it was more focused on improvement and learning and honing skills, but if it is a competition, it doesn’t really make much sense.
There were way too many group projects.
How could you have a clear & fair winner when the end showpiece was a group effort with other people on the team clearly doing way more than the winner?
Neither Juan nor Melissa did the two major features of their final showpieces.
Daniel did the largest & most amazing part of the winning showpiece and I thought he deserved to get a runner-up prize at least if not winner!
2. I found both Melissa and Juan to be insufferable. Full of themselves, arrogant and Melissa was consistently mean spirited and how many times did we have to hear about why she wanted to win the 50K for her nothing to do with chocolate restaurant & complain that others didn’t deserve to win she did. Ughh.
Daniel was so sweet to vote for her over himself and shouldn’t have, she didn’t deserve it.
Stephanie and Thiago were just yuck personalities too. Both so self centered and eager to gossip about others.
3. Too much crying and drama and editing to force more drama into your face. Clearly edited cuts that show other people looking mad when other people do well etc.
The only things that I liked about the show were seeing Chef Amaury’s amazing masterpiece skills with chocolate/sugar and his teaching & seeing the growth of some people.
Had the show just been what I thought it was I believe Daniel would have & should have won the whole thing.
I highly doubt I will be watching season two.
