The movie was traumatic, from one trauma scene to another. It was brutal and violent. The slave movies I have seen were not even as brutal or in your face horrific as this film. I didn't get or understand the slave narrative or systemic oppression correlation at all. To me it was the same ole same black on black crime and violence, but uncensored on screen.
