As someone who's never read the books, the entire film just seems to serve as a setup for the next movie. It also takes itself too seriously and plays this grandiose soundtrack everytime the main character looks at, well, anything. From what I could gather, the story is about a young heir to a space dynasty who has been groomed to be some type of sand Jesus for a planet that holds a resource for interstellar travel. The main bad guy is unseen, the lower level bad guys (who cause the most havoc in the movie) don't really get resolved either. The climactic fight is literally with a character that had maybe two minutes of screen time before initiating a fight to the death. The whole movie seems hyped up by most but left me feeling disappointed. It felt like 1/3 of a movie masquerading as an entire movie. This did not deserve my money.
