Maxine Burgess

A very interesting and informative documentary about the Followers of Christ Church and their practices regarding medical treatment of their children. The Followers of Christ church has members in Oklahoma, Oregon, and Idaho. I found it very interesting because the area where I live, members of this church have made local news because of their reliance on faith-healing (prayer and the annointing of the afflicted with olive oil) to treat sick children who later died. Idaho has a law that protects people who allow their children to die in the practice of religion which lawmakers have attempted to repeal in recent years with no success. The movie causes one to examine just how far we should allow one's religion to determine the welfare of one's children, even if following religion results in harm to the child.
