This game was one of the best games to come out this year. The combat is simple yet satisfying, but to be honest, it could work better as a twin-stick shooter. The boss fights are action-packed and full of new mechanics. The story leaves a little to be desired but works for the most part, and I actually ended up caring for a lot of the characters and their goals. Sam and John are very good protagonists and the relationship between each other is very deep and emotional, even though John can’t talk. Finally, the graphics. These are probably the best sprites I’ve seen in a game like this, and are probably the strongest part of this game. In conclusion, Eastward is a mostly overlooked gem that needs to be played by more people.
