I very much enjoy books but that have somewhat to strong non-fiction vibe in facts- yet I'm a human like the rest of us and we like to be entertained. E.g. Bill Bryson, J. Maarten Troost- I was very happy to "read" this (I did audio book). I have listened to it more then once (I have a commute to work), and it's a joy that's worth repeating. Steve Hely does a great job writing it or at least reading it (I again, did the audio book) and sharing his adventure.
If you like learning random facts (or as he re-enforces things he has come to think are most likely accurate- and tries to be honest) about remote places- and something that will (Again I audio book it while driving) sitting after you arrive at destination just to wait for a good stop to stop it- this is your jam.
It comes off as very honest- easy listen, endlessly positive and uplifting (I guess), and is really nice light reading that will leave you smiling-- also it's highly addicting.
What ever happened to that tall German woman? Did she conquer the volcano- I hope Steve's mother still brings it up at weird times at family get together.
Keep writing books like this and release them in audio format- it's quality. I felt that after listening to it several times since I purchased it- I owed the positive review.
