I love the Outlander books, discovered them back in 1996 in a library in Germany, where we were stationed at the time and have read them all. I have enjoyed the series so far, but in season 4 so far, they have deviated so far from the original books as to be unrecognizable. I agree about that song they played during the robbery scene, it was really weird. I understand they deviate sometimes, but they are are straying so far from the original that it makes you feel differently about the characters. Well, that's my two cents for what it's worth. The story is so good, why not let it be. Also the tribe was Tuscarora, not Cherokee...why change that?
