Two immediately defining things about this film is the architecture and the incessant whispered narrative, too faint you won’t register a thing without subtitles and even then it’s still hard to decipher. Bottomline I think it’s supposed to showcase how people deal with grief, and loss. I wanted to skip towards the end to see if that was all there was to it. And yup, zero plot. Just visuals on top of visuals on top of visuals. A hefty load of national geographic scores and choir noises on slow falsetto. Like two hours of animal planet but with a 32 million dollar budget. Like this was meant to be magical? I had a full on straight face watching this whole thing dragged out like I’m watching Space Odyssey all over again.

What most people don't understand is that adaptations would naturally NOT just follow the whole course of the original. And that's what makes them interesting! If you focus your attention dissecting every single detail "done wrong", you are missing out on the art. :( I have always been fascinated to see what'll set live-action remakes apart from their inspirations. It'd be silly to expect otherwise. Some do it bad trying to follow or deviate a bit, (it doesn't matter), but they did GOOD on this one! Mulan's reimagining was done just fine although admittedly less convincing, and the action scenes were a bit lacklustre and somewhat inferior. Seemed to be lacking just a bit more, but it is nothing I can't afford to overlook. :) The set pieces and colours looked amazing on screen! I wish they went slightly harder on the scores from the original movies, that would have screamed MAJOR MOTION PICTURE a little bit more to me. Nonetheless, I cried in the first 30 mins :') Mulan shedding gear and letting her hair down charging into battle was POWERFUL. This film was beautifully directed by the lovely NZ director Niki Caro! I've also only now just noticed how feministy my featured movies are! HAHAHA I LOVE IT! I'm listening to the whole soundtrack on spoti rn reminiscing my childhood.

Victor Fleming, what an ageless masterpiece this is. I am ashamed I hadn't had the decency to watch this sooner. Sensational. I am left with nothing to say but praise! Nearly a century has passed and this much yet has remained unparalleled. I can't begin to explain the plethora of feelings I have exploding inside of me right now. I can't believe something could be this marvellous. So ground-breakingly phenomenal! With no exaggeration, the shots are but a dream!! Not to mention the very beautiful, sublime scores! Top-tier performances by the late Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable. I never shrieked louder in my entire life from film butterflies than when Rhett said "...With enough courage you could do without a reputation." I might have fainted.

The camera panning and zooms make it thoroughly interesting and enjoyable, along with the brilliantly vibrant colour scheme of course! A nice movie although I was quite surprised to find myself unsatisfied in the end Perhaps I was expecting to be left with a more profound impression thereafter the movie has ended? Still, Anderson’s style and aesthetic is to his signature a consistently refreshing atmospheric feel in essence

Very badass start. I like this Victor Frankenstein, very visionary and charming. His excited passion in his vision and work is his vulnerability and it’s very freakishly endearing. Actors playing VF James McAvoy and especially Turpin Andrew Scott did really well. Stress on detective Tupin, he was just so good! Victor Frankenstein's precious fragility I actually understand, as well as his drive. Very well done

I came into watching this with cognisance to find my opinion very opposite to that of others. I think it's weirdly behind for a 2002 work. Idk what is up with people saying this was understandable for its time because there were far better work in the 20th century than this? So revered but the writing is so bad for a 2002 film. Seems almost indie with the scores, almost like a school project. The writing for the woman lead makes her quite despicable.The feelings and dialogues are not in place. No veracity in the interactions and so the scenes come out poorly as the exchanges are unlikely.

Lighthearted and funny! Keeps attention and has interesting storylines! Reminded me of that feeling when you first get to know someone who might be a significant part of your life, something potentially special. Like when you first get to know them, kiss them, and hold them. It shows us that we go after the people we love, and let them know in Christmas spirit. And we don’t let them down. That way in the end we have no regrets.
