I followed Gabby Petitoโs case closelyโmy family and I were actually on the same road trip through Moab just a few weeks after she was there. Watching this documentary left me shocked and heartbroken. I donโt say this lightly, but I found many of the interviews disturbing and hard to watch. Gabby should never have gone missing.
There were so many red flags that seemed overlooked. Itโs painful to think that people close to her might not have fully realized how unsafe she was feeling. Gabby appeared to be trapped in a toxic relationship, and itโs devastating that the Moab police missed an opportunity to step in when they had the chance.
This documentary had a chance to tell Gabbyโs story with care and purpose, but instead, it felt sensationalized and shallow. It failed to capture the gravity and complexity of what really happened. Gabby was a young woman chasing her dream of being a content creator, not a character in a true crime reel.
Were it not for the Bethune family's YouTube footage, Gabbyโs case might have faded into obscurity. That video was crucial.
Ultimately, this documentary felt more like a cash grab than a respectful tribute. I regret watching it. My heart goes out to Gabby and to all women who face emotional or physical abuse. Survivors and victims deserve better storytelling than this.
