As one of the biggest fans of the original Halloween movie, you know I just had to see this latest installment. However after watching "Kills", I almost wished i hadn't! First of all this movie was too long. I literally kept looking at the time. It could have been a 90 minute movie and it still would have been too long! It had unnecessary characters who added nothing to the plot. There was no need to bring back many of the characters who (spoiler alert) all end up dying anyway. Speaking of dying, 90% of those who die in this movie could have survived had they made better decisions besides just standing there letting Micheal Myers kill them. Come on! Are your fingers really going to stop someone with machete? With all the talk of "evil dies tonight" why didn't the townsfolk cutoff Michael's head or at least his hands to make sure he could actually die and not kill anyone again. What bothers me the most about this movie is that the true essence of Michael Myers was forgotten. They made him a killing machine versus the embodiment of unknown evil. Here he kills without forethought and does so without artistry. The original version had him pre-plan his actions and kill with purpose and craftsmanship ship (remember when he stabbed the guy and hung him on the kitchen wall or when he put the glasses and sheet over his head in the original?) This version was a hot mess! The only reason I can give this movie 2 stars is because it made a last ditch effort at the end to redeem itself. However even with that, the end left much to be desired.
