Raja rani is a decent romantic drama. It reiterates that ‘there is love after love failure’ and importantly ‘there is life after love failure’. Arya has done a good job in this movie. Jai is good as naive and innocent call centre executive Surya. Nayanthara has given a nice performance in this film. Her scenes with Jai are funny and endearing.Nazriya has an important role in the second half and she makes a very good impression.Santhanam entertains in the film with his trademark funny lines. Sathyaraj is good as Nayanthara’s father. G.V.Prakash is the bloodline of Raja Rani breathing life into Atlee's script.There are moments in the second half leading to the finale which sag. Overall its a classy romantic movie which is worth watching.

Its been 20 years since its release. But its visual ecstasy , ARR's music, Mani ratnam's direction and dialogue makes it a cult classic. It is the first film of R.Madhavan as a lead actor whereas it was the last film for lead actress Shalini.While the film is a trademark of realistic romance, it is the soundtrack that truly brings on a wave of nostalgia in an age of repetitive remixes.
