- A gripping tale of the devastating administration, business and loot of Britishers in India for 200 years.
This is a perfect amalgamation of 'What the Englishmen did to India' and 'Why they should not have done that'!
We have seen and heard many narratives of history but here, Mr. Tharoor went way ahead of a mere narration. It is a very assertive effort of presenting the collective facts about the contemporary condition of India and the various approaches taken by the British aristocrats to make it even worse.
Albeit, it is a constructive read.
Even for the people who are not that keen in reading History might find it very comprehensible, blunt, but of course, in Tharoor's own way of writing, very precise about the message it is intended to give to the readers!
From the 18th Century, when East India company tasted the Indian sea food for the first time to the 20th Century, when they left the nation divided on the grounds of Politics and Religion,
the author summed up almost all the major notable tragedies and accomplishments of English (With countless credible evidences, which even Brits cannot deny).
At the end of the day, it will leave you proud of this nation of golden land for its civilization which dates back to more than 5000 years,
for its customs, excellence in science and the global leader in businesses such as Textile, Steel and Spices and for finally,
its fight for the freedom.
P.S. A Dexterous masterpiece for the literary sound beings.
