The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy (extended edition) is the greatest trilogy of all time in my opinion. It’s truly in a league all alone as the greatest movies ever made. The Fellowship Of The Ring extended edition is much more in depth than the original theatrical version. I love this trilogy so much, I own all three movies (extended edition) on DVD, Blu Ray & 4K. I even bought an extra 4K trilogy of the extended edition that’s still in the plastic shrink wrapped box. Absolutely brilliant with unmatched special effects (even compared to the most recent movies of today in 2024-2025). The sound quality is in Dolby Atmos on the 4K version, but even the DVD and the 1080p Blu Ray sounds incredible. Watching these movies on a 85” Samsung 4K TV using Denon’s A1H 15.2 top of the line AVR is even better than when I saw these movies in the theater in 2001-2003. Incredible scenes in beautiful New Zealand. Incredible acting, special effects (mentioned above). There’s just nothing like it on film today and maybe never will be. Much like The Wizard Of Oz filmed in 1939 which still to this day is a masterpiece and favorite to many. I believe The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy will carry the same tradition for decades to come.

This is a terrible movie on many different levels. Julia Roberts hits rock bottom for her career. She’s become the “angry actress” in her last five movies and I won’t even watch a movie with her in it after seeing this. Another apocalyptic movie which is a subject that’s ran into the ground by so many movies already! It’s depressing, stupid and a huge waste of time. In fact, watch out Netflix……. Most Netflix movies are becoming ridiculously bad and I’m very close to cancelling my subscription.

Another James Cameron film that changed the way under water movies were filmed for decades. The 4K UltraHD Blu Ray recently was released in the United States, and it’s absolutely stunning (as all James Cameron movies are). No spoilers here, but if you haven’t seen the Abyss, you’re in store for a real treat! Considered one of the most difficult movies ever made, even in 1989 The Abyss was way ahead of its time! In James Cameron’s earlier days, many actors didn’t like working for him, but, only because he expects perfection. In hindsight the end result is another great film for the books! Many of the techniques used back then are still used today because they were so far ahead of their time. An absolute must see classic Cameron film!

This is a four hour movie which could have been cut to three hours with about an hour and of unnecessary scenes. Spoiler alert: Superman doesn’t even return until the last third of the movie. That said, Henry Cavill is the best Superman of all time! He’s so good as Superman it’s worth the wait. DC Comics has made some big mistakes by changing actors as their superheroes. Don’t make another one by changing Superman’s character again! I’m so looking forward to the next Justice League movie, as the extended version sets up the ending for a second movie. After Batman (Ben Affleck) spends a lot of time rounding up the rest of the Superheroes, I can’t imagine there not being at least two more movies and another Superman movie that shows Clark Kent more as well as Superman.
