I don't know how historically accurate it is. It seemed close to what I could imagine but I am no expert. The story is amazing (No Spoilers) so amazing I loved it read it several times. It is the story of Mixtli (aztec name for Dark Cloud). It tells his story from birth to death while living in the constantly changing world of the Aztecs. It has adventure, war, love, friendship, extreme happiness & tragedy too. It is a big book but you don't mind because its not long enough. An absolutely great read!
