Rogers & Hammerstein were the tops for musicals in the 50s - years later Andrew Lloyd Webber was tops. Live theatre is so exciting and if it is a musical even better. The Shubert Lafayette Theatre and Cass Theatre were the great old theatres in Detroit, Michigan. The Masonic Temple and the Opera House are now tops - with the Masonic Temple the best place to see Andrew Lloyd Webber works - his very best is the Phantom of the Opera - what a production. I was fortunate to see it at both of these theatres. I also seen Whistle Down The Wind at the Fisher Theatre. Screen productions in the 50s weren't as good as now, but they had the best stars. Dread it, the only Andrew Lloyd Webber show I haven't seen was Sunset Boulevard with Glen Close - it was a sensational show, too.
Go to live theatre and be entertained elegantly, enjoyably and you'll never forget the experience.
