It's alright but you'll have to look up a lot of things as you progress because apparently they didn't proof read the book. I was using the future tense wrong for four exercises because they only put the irregular stems afterwards which makes 0 sense. They also like to pull up vocabulary you never learned within the book. I won't be surprised to find out it's learnt 200 pages later. This book is pretty thorough though and I've made quite a lot of progress. It's just irritating how it's set up. I think it'd be better to use this book along with another workbook. This one for exercises about specific subjects and the other for logical progression and vocabulary. There's like a breakdown of everything in the first part, then the second is about specific grammar things, so you won't be getting a lot of vocabulary 279 pages in (where i'm at). I'm already experienced with french so some of the grammar rules were pretty easy for me to comprehend but for monolinguals, like most native anglophones are, it's probably not a good book to use. Save it for reviewing after you've learned from another source.
Tldr: good, but get another workbook to teach you vocab and things in a logical order. This book is best when you already know a lot of common vocab and just want to review from the start
Edit: Clearly they didn't check the book at all. The "passato prossimo" chapter was by far the worst I've experienced so far and I had to stop more than 10-15 times to look up a word because I didn't learn them from the book. Then sometimes the answer key would pull a middle finger on you by using a way of expression we haven't learned. For example "Andare via" when you would want to use "partire". Like how are we supposed to know how to use that if we're learning from this book and it didn't ever show that before? Another example is when it asked us to translate "We had a great time at the beach". First of all, we never learned what beach was. And you'd think you'd translate it by saying you "had" a good time. Then it just uses "Ci siamo divertiti" in the answer key as if we were supposed to know to use "have fun" like that. It's just clear they didn't care enough. I can still learn using the book but damn they did not care
